I've been reading a lot of trashy/irrelevant websites to keep my mind from falling into the black void of nothingness. I don't think I'm overselling the term trashy either. I am not proud, but I am bored. I would prefer to be listening to podcasts on NPR, but my work blocked NPR, not PerezHilton.com, but NPR. Pure madness on their part, leaving me with nothing but celebrity news and pictures of kittens to fill my days.
Here are some of the high-brow sites I've enjoyed:
OMG! - Pretty pictures of famous people with meaningless text.
Kat Dennings - There's not much of an excuse for this one.
Weather - Always a good conversation starter. "Can you believe there's a 20% chance of rain next Thursday in Salt Lake City? I'm not from there either, but keeping current on the nation's weather is very important to me."
New York Times - A good way to pretend I'm smart. Not a good conversation starter, if the other person actually is intelligent and continues the subject into depth, which will undoubtedly reveal my stupidity. Unless I keep it really vague, such as "Hey, have you guys heard about this recession going on? I read about it in the New York Times." Wait, I still sound stupid there.
I'll read my own blog as well, just to make sure nothing crazy is happening, like someone else is reading it or commenting. If that happens I would highly suggest preparing yourselves for the impending apocalypse.
I do know how sad this is, I know.
